2nd Annual Harley’s and Habits Set to Kick Off
Ever wanted to see a nun riding in a sidecar?  Well now is your chance! On April 12th, New Braunfels, Texas, will be hosting the second annual Harley’s and Habits Ride for Charity, which benefits the hospitals of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System; and it’s all organized by the Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System. This years 70-mile motorcycle-ride’s proceeds will go to help build a Patient and Information Center at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital.
For those who are unaware, CHRISTUS is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system comprised of almost 350 services and facilities, including more than 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 175 clinics and outpatient centers and dozens of other health ministries. The Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System is dedicated to improving adult health care in the San Antonio region.  They do this through increasing donors and supporters throughout the community, which in turn will aid in the betterment of the health care in the region.  They do a number of initiatives that are aimed at helping to achieve this goal, and the Harley’s and Habits Ride is one of the many initiatives they undertake in the community.

You don’t need a hog or a habit to be a part of the Harley’s and Habits Ride For Charity

The daylong event begins with the Parade of Sisters in Sidecars through downtown New Braunfels at noon, kicking off at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. It then transitions into a nice ride through the surrounding Texas Hillside. Finally, at 4pm, it winds up at Billy’s Ice House, wherein participants can take part in a silent auction, and dinner and live music.
Registration for this great event is $20 for a single rider, and $25 for a rider and passenger, as long as you register before April 4th. After the 4th, costs rise to $30 for a single rider, and $35 for a rider and passenger.  And, you don’t have to ride a Harley, all kinds of bikes are welcome to take part in the ride. Not a rider but still want to take part? Not a problem. You can register for the wrap up party at the aforementioned Billy’s Ice House, for a mere $10. The wrap up party covers your dinner and band costs, as well as your involvement in the silent auction, if you so choose, at the after party.
