Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced that they will be renting motorcycles in the United States; the service will first begin in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This marks the first time that a major auto rental agency will rent motorcycles to the general public and by launching in Las Vegas the rental service hopes to take advantage of the year-round riding season and high volume of tourists that might be interested in motorcycling their way through the Las Vegas Strip and over to the Hoover Dam.
“When you go to Las Vegas you will see motorcycles everywhere,” says Dave Nestor, Enterprise’s senior vice president of West Coast Operations. “With the number of tourists that hit the marketplace every year and the weather so nice, a lot of people like to see the countryside on motorcycle.”
Enterprise will launch the service with a robust fleet of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Renters must carry a valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsement; helmets will be provided to riders and their passengers at no additional fee.
The proposed pricing will range from $120 to $160 per day which is comparable to a large SUV and they will offer discounts for bikes rented by the week.
The agency is going to be watching the success of the Las Vegas rentals to gauge whether they will roll out the service to other parts of the country.
“I’m confident we’ll do well with it,” says Nestor. “But, it is different and we want to make sure we do it well. I’d certainly want to see a full year’s cycle to understand what the business model looks like.”
Riders can rent five different models from a new branch of Enterprise located on Flamingo Road; there will be two additional models available by the end of November.
In case you’re wondering it’s about a 16 hour scenic drive from Las Vegas, Nevada to Sturgis, South Dakota.
