Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys®: Daytona Revs Up For Bike Week 2013.

It’s getting to be that time of year again. Spring is rapidly approaching which means Daytona Bike Week is only weeks away. Daytona Bike Week begins March 8th and runs through the 17th marking the 72nd anniversary of one of the biggest motorcycle events in the biker world.
Daytona Bike Week began back in 1937 with the inaugural running of the famous Daytona 200, a bike race which quickly became a yearly tradition. Riders from all across the southern states would make the trek down to Daytona Beach, Florida to watch the motorcycles race on the beach. The annual race was suspended, though, in 1942 after the USA declared war on Germany and Japan. The nationwide necessity to ration essential items such as fuel, rubber etc. to support the war effort, forced the cancellation of the race until such a time that America would again be at peace. That didn’t stop the bikers from showing up. Numerous enthusiasts continued to make the trek to Daytona Florida anyway while awaiting the ‘official’ return of the event. Since then, Daytona Bike Week has evolved into one of the largest motorcycle rallies in America and is considered the official kick off to the riding season.
This year’s Bike Week is jam packed full of exciting and fun events that will entertain riders of all types—the newbie to even the most hard-core. With the popularity of the event, there are always a plethora of big name sponsors on hand; including Harley-Davidson and Budweiser who offer their own unique twists which be sure to add to the entertainment and party experience. Numerous events will showcase almost everything that the motorcycle world has to offer. Parades will kick off and close out the week, as well as a variety of seminars on safety and bike modification will be happening. Speaking of bike mods, there will be plenty of aftermarket vendors at a variety of locations during Bike Week that are sure to be have that part you’ve been looking for to give your bike that extra kick or glam.
If you’re attending for the racing, you won’t be disappointed. There will be plenty of two wheeled speed action on hand. The Geico AMA Racing Tour powers its way into Florida to run the iconic Daytona 200 as a kick off for the 2013 AMA season. That’s not all though, as the up and comers in the AMA will do the “Pro Race Flat Track” on the quarter mile lime rock track just outside Daytona Motor Speedway. These riders will be ‘bringing it’ so be sure to check out the action. If circuit racing isn’t your thing, and you prefer the pure speed aspect of it, then check out the WyoTech Dyno, as contestants from around the country will be competing to see who has the most horsepower.
It’s sure to be a week filled with fun and excitement, so head on down to Daytona, catch some rays and get in on the excitement! This year’s Bike Week promises to kick off the 2013 rally season in style.
