According to the Florida Highway Patrol reports, the accused drunk driver was traveling westbound on County Road 476 when he swerved his truck into the eastbound opposing lane to pass another vehicle. Instead, he struck the two fully-loaded motorcycles head-on at a high rate of speed. Three of the motorcyclists died at the scene, while the fourth passé away in a local hospital. In a show of support, locals bikers are going to attend each of the accused drunk driver’s court hearings.
Unfortunately, drunken motorists cause deadly motorcycle accidents with multiple fatalities all too frequently here in Florida. According to statistics from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers), the average drunk driver has driven drunk 87 times before his or her first arrest. Worse, the same statistics also show that an estimated 50 to 75% of drunk drivers continue to drive after their licenses have been suspended.
