Los Angeles Motorcycle Lawyer; In emergency situations, mere minutes could mean the difference between life and death, and now, Los Angeles, California firefighters have come up with an ingenious way to improve emergency response times in the area. They have been riding around congested Los Angeles, CA roadways and through off-road areas on motorcycles that have been outfitted with defibrillators and medical supplies. The Los Angeles 5 member unit of motorcycle first responders has been working for about a year now and can get to emergency situations quicker than large fire trucks and ambulances can. They are able to provide emergency medical treatment to injured victims, provide information to dispatchers, scout fires, and take care of a slew of other problems that existed before the motorcycle program began.
The motorcycles are on loan from Kawasaki Motor Corp and have been outfitted with handlebar mounted GPS systems and medical equipment. These bikes retail for about $6300 and offer flexibility to the fire department and other first responders. Last year, the program debuted during the two-day closure of a 10 mil stretch of Interstate 405. They will again be deployed when the other half of the Mulholland Drive Bridge is demolished later this month.
Los Angeles’ response times in emergency situations lag consistently behind national standards, and officials hope that these motorcycle units will help to improve them. They have good reason to be hopeful too. In Miami, motorcycle riding medics cut Miami’s response times from seven minutes to less than three minutes. Unfortunately, budget cuts ended Miami’s motorcycle operation in 2008.
