ABATE is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the Freedom of Choice. Membership is open to anyone interested in promoting freedom of the road, whether you ride a motorcycle or not. Ensure your freedom by fighting anti-bike legislation and promoting fair motorcycle legislation. Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys has been a supporter of ABATE since day 1. In 1971, Easyriders magazine editor, Lou Kimsey, called for bikers to join a new national organization called the National Custom Cycle Organization to fight impending restrictions. Its name was changed to A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments (ABATE) in 1972. ABATE began granting state charters in 1974 and Keith Ball was the original national coordinator. In 1981, Deacon Dave Phillips broke away and took over the founding charter of the original ABATE. He changed the name to American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education, then back to ABATE of California. Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys is credited as being one of the original founders and supporters of ABATE. For more info see: https://www.abate.org/. Interviewer: Rusty Coones, legendary bike builder, and actor from the TV shows Sons of Anarchy and The Mayans.
