Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys®: Ventura County, California – Chopperfest set to get under way this weekend!
Celebrating the life of the biker world’s “artist in residence”, Dave Mann, and everything else motorcycle, the 9th annual Chopperfest is set to kick off this weekend in Ventura, California. The one day event will be held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds from 8am to 4pm on December 9th.
So, what exactly is Chopperfest? Chopperfest is really a show that celebrates motorcycle design, function and art. Originally created by Dave “Huggie” Hansen, the show has evolved into a party, a bike show, swap meet and, most of all, a tribute to the late, famed motorcycle artist David Mann. David Mann is known as THE definitive motorcycle artist. His creative juices began flowing at an early age and he began painting motorcycles and the motorcycle lifestyle in 1960. He continued his work all the way to 2004 when he was forced to stop because of bad health. His work has been featured in magazines such as Easyriders, and Choppers. It is his memory that has spurred the success of Chopperfest and the show has really taken off. Chopperfest will be exhibiting some of Mann’s artwork including a never before seen painting as well—his last unfinished work.
This year’s show will be featuring performances from the Charlie Brechtel Band as well as an exhibition from the Sugartown Roller Girls.
There will be approximately 200 bikes from 100 builders on display with many motorcycle companies in attendance so the show is shaping up to be one of the best Chopperfests yet! Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys® is also one of the headlining sponsors of the “If You Build It They Will Come” bike expo at the show. The expo features custom motorcycles of all types being showcased in a fun and friendly competition. There will be more than 12 classes of bikes participating and if you have a bike that fits one of the classes, you can enter it into the competition for just $40 and you will even get a t-shirt and show admission for that price! Top prizes include cash and really unique trophies designed by none other than Sonny Boy. General admission starts at $15, and with military I.D. you get in for $10. Children 12 and under are admitted for free all day long.
