Motorcycle Awareness – Los Angeles

Russ Brown Accident Lawyers: Four years ago emergency medical technicians responded to a motorcycle accident on the Los Angeles Air Force Base in California. The unconscious motorcycle victim was a young mother of three children and she sustained major injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle, however, only sustained minor injuries. This prompted the Air Force Base to hold a panel question and answer session to discuss improving motorcycle safety. That year panelists ranged from motorcycle police officers to professional motorcycle racers and they discussed important motorcycle safety topics, such as lane-splitting and helmet use.

This year, the prestigious panel included motorcycle attorney, Chuck Koro, partner in the law firm Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys®, was part of the motorcycle panel that addressed motorcycle safety tips and concerns. In particular, they discussed the 101 Critical Days of Summer (a term used to discuss the time period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when motorcycling is at its peak). The panel consisted of an accident reconstructionist, an insurance broker, the Director of Special Projects for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, a Deputy Sheriff, 2 stunt motorcyclists, and a track racer. This year’s topics included accident prevention, motorcycle driving habits, and proper safety equipment.

Motorcycle safety panels, like this one, are a great way to help improve motorcycle safety and awareness among the general population. Through education and discussion, we can make a difference and help prevent potentially life-threatening motorcycle accidents from occurring. However, improving motorcycle safety awareness is just one of the ways motorcyclists can prevent accidents from occurring. Using the proper safety equipment and driving defensively are wonderful ways to ensure that you continue to ride well into the future.
