Jennifer Cox – Doing the right thing!

Russ Brown Biker Injury Attorneys: When I first spoke to Jennifer she was so authentic and honest about being a single mom of two and adopting three more children because it was the “Right thing to do”.
Right then, this lady became my hero!
No surprise her ride is a CVO Road King. Great bike for a great lady and let’s takes a peek into her world and motorcycles.
Name: Jennifer Cox
Location: Southwest Minnesota
Occupation: Full time student- full time mom of 4 boys
What bike you currently ride: 2007 Road King CVO FLHRSE3

When did you start riding and what got you involved in motorcycles?

I started out as a passenger many years ago, riding every chance I got. About 3 years ago I was finally given the chance to start driving. I was so exhausted and beaten by life that I needed to find something to recharge my energy. Riding gave me that and so much more than I could have ever hoped for. In 2006 I went from being a single mom of 2, to mom of 5 by fostering, and eventually adopting, 3 extra kids. My life had become a crazy zoo. Lol. I was only 21, and after fighting with the county and courts to save the kids I was tired, to say the least. Riding became my sanctuary from it all.

How has riding motorcycles impacted your life?

It gave me my strength and confidence back. I got a chance to believe in myself again. I truly believe riding helped me breathe life back into my soul. I have been through so many challenges and riding has become my little slice of heaven.

Ride Therapy!

What was or has been the most challenging or difficult thing to overcome in the mechanics of riding?

The hardest part for me was tight cornering at slow speeds. I would feel so tippy. I had to practice low speed turning the longest, but I was lucky enough to have great friends that sat for hours and encouraged me!

What do you like most about your model motorcycle?

I love the smooth ride and the balance. I have driven a lot of other models and I feel the safest on my bike. I love the chrome in the sunshine (except polishing it LOL) Also, it’s really fast!!! LOL

What modifications have you made?

My RK has SE Cams, adjustable pushrods, aftermarket exhaust, and Carlini drag bars. The next addition will be a power commander and better exhaust at the end of this month.

When you’re not riding motorcycles, what are your other interests?

I love spending time with my boys, shooting my guns, listening to all types of music, and watching movies.

What advice do you have for other women riders?

I guess the best advice I could offer to other women riders would be do whatever it is you love no matter what other people say or have said! I would tell them that they will never have a better feeling then the friends and family that come into your life from riding. Finally, I would tell them that the empowerment/freedom is euphoric and highly addictive LOL

What aspect of riding would you like to improve on?

I would love to improve on my skills on gravel. We have a ton around here so it gets freaky sometimes.

How tall are you?

5’7

What is the seat height of your bike?

26”

What is your riding weather like throughout the year?

In Minnesota we are lucky to have 5 months normally. This year it was much better. This year riding season started in February.

How is riding therapy for you?

When I begin a ride, it doesn’t matter if it is around town or hundreds of highway miles, my thoughts finally quiet. My mind is so busy 24/7, but when I ride everything else goes away. I have four boys in my house involved in school activities and sports. It keeps you insanely busy. So thankfully when I ride my only thoughts become wind and road. It is a serenity that only comes from riding for me and without it I could not be the woman I need to be for me and my family.

Jennifer’s family also includes a rescue pit mix named Samantha, a miniature poodle named lady, and a turtle named pirate. A great lady would makes the family of women motorcyclist proud!
